T & F Slacks

When it comes to handmade shoes, Tim and Fiona Slack are the perfect example of a company that stood the test of time. They started hand making shoes near Glastonbury in the 1970s when the famous festival started.

At the time ‘small was beautiful’ an under current of young people began to react against mass production investigating alternative ways of living and making things.

Later in the 70’s the business was moved to Bath and a shop called Walkers opened with the shoes being hand made in the basement. The archetypal shoe was a blue suede lace up with a yellow sole that were worn by Roxy Music. Unique roller disco boots were also a hit.

A few years ago having had a wider experience of designing and  manufacturing on a global level with the brand Audley,  the Slacks decided  to return to their roots and develop the idea of hand making their designs again. Black Truffle is championing 3 beautiful styles of Slack’s unique designs which ally quality, timeless elegance with a 70’s glamorous twist.

The popularity of sunglasses is really a twentieth-century phenomenon. We feel at Black Truffle that sunglasses shouldn’t just be about the “name” but should be fun, quirky, colourful with of course great UV protection, and most importantly shouldn’t break your bank balance!
